Updated: Jul 5, 2023

14 Days Japan Travel Itinerary

Touring Tokyo and a Journey through Japan-- these are two books I have written about my travels in Japan. Check these out!!!

Large statues called the Moai statues are located at the entrance of the Makomanai Takino Cemetery in the northern area of Hokkaido. When you enter through the gate, you will find the head of a Buddha peeking out on the hill out of a high ground opened roof. During the spring time, there is a beautiful lavender field surrounding the Buddha head. However, during months of December, the entire hill is carpeted with white snow creating a magical environment.

The Hill of Buddha or Atama Daibutsu was designed by a famous Japanese architect named Tadao Ando. The Buddha construction project was completed in 2015. You can espy this impressive 44 foot Buddha statue by passing through a long and narrow 131 feet tunnel.
